Mount Vernon Bulldogs Varsity scores more runs than Meridian High School, takes victory on Thursday to the tune of 7-3.
Mount Vernon Bulldogs Varsity got on the board in the first inning. Quinn Swanson singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
Mount Vernon Bulldogs Varsity put up four runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught came from a walk by Gabe Hander, single by Steven Gard, a sacrifice fly by Zack Klinger, and a fielder’s choice by Lucas Gahan.
Trey Devery was on the pitcher’s mound for Mount Vernon Bulldogs Varsity. The pitcher lasted two innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out one.
Bryce Johnson was on the hill for Meridian High School. The hurler surrendered six runs on six hits over five innings, striking out three. Dan Short threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Gard went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Mount Vernon Bulldogs Varsity in hits. Mount Vernon Bulldogs Varsity tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Gard led the way with three.
Logan Sharp led Meridian High School with two hits in three at bats.
